Whether you're a long-time robotics enthusiast, a fan of AI programming or a computer science student thinking of writing a term paper on Pleo then we want you to explore Pleo to the fullest. If your Pleo fascination keeps you up at night creating new Pleo traits, you're welcome here. And if you'd like to design an animation or tool for Pleo, then this is the place for you too!

Life OSIn bringing Pleo to life, we set out to create a Life Form capable of organic and realistic movement, autonomous behavior, adaptive learning, and expressive personality through emotional responses.

Pleo Development Kit

The Pleo Development Kit will make it possible for you to creatively interact with Pleo on the programming level. Whether you are a casual hobbyist or hardcore hacker, you'll be supported at a level that makes your personalization of Pleo rewarding and fun. You'll be able to tap into your creativity to modify his behaviors, tweak an animation or completely reinvent him. Will you design a new neural network learning algorithm, or to add a cool sound effect? The PDK will make personalization rewarding and fun.

Please be sure to sign up for Pleo News to hear the latest on the PDK, which will be available later this year.

Resources for Developers

We now have a set of resources for developers to begin to learn about how Pleo works. These documents are intended for experienced C programmers to get a general understanding of the process by which applications are written for Pleo.

FAQs

With this information you can begin to learn about how to program Pleo and get ready for the release of the Pleo Developers Kit (PDK) later this year.

Developer Forums

We want Pleoworld to become a community where fellow dreamers share visions and creations that enrich everybody's Pleo experience. OK, maybe that sounds a bit over the top. But we are expecting enthusiastic innovation, lively exchanges, and a dash of ingenuity. People are already on the Forums discussing everything from the boundaries of speech recognition and the ethics of AI pets to suggestions for UGOBE's next project. We've set up a new thread called TechTalk for all these technical discussions - do join in!

Third Party Applications

We're already seeing several incredibly fun third party applications for Pleo. Please be sure to check out MySkit Performance Editor for Pleo and YAPT (Yet Another Pleo Tool) to try these applications that allow you to modify Pleo's motion and sounds.
